from booking to follow-up
How Brett works
Five steps. No queue to jump, and no same-day promise. You book a time that is actually available, then the clinical work starts.
1. Book
Open the booking page and choose an initial consultation ($160, 40 minutes, by video) or, if Brett already sees you, a follow-up review ($80, 20 minutes). Payment is taken in the booking system, Halaxy. This website does not ask for symptoms, test results or card numbers.
Read Is Cortex right for me? first if you are unsure. Available times are whatever the calendar shows that week.
2. Assessment
The initial consult is by video and runs for 40 minutes. You will need a private, quiet place and a device with a camera. You are welcome to bring a support person. The way prescribing is kept safe is written on the safety standard page.
Have these nearby:
- A list of medicines and supplements, with doses.
- Any recent blood results or letters from other clinicians.
- Photo identification.
- Your Medicare card or Individual Healthcare Identifier, if you have one. This is so an eScript can be created if one is written. It does not mean the consult is billed to Medicare.
- Questions you want answered. Write them down.
- If you can, a recent weight, waist measurement, and blood pressure.
3. Tests
Brett often requests blood tests before a plan involving medicine, and sometimes before any plan at all. You take the request to a pathology laboratory you can get to. The lab bills you. Some tests are bulk-billed and some have a gap. Ask the lab when you book the test. There is a short article on why tests come first, marked as a draft while Brett reviews it.
4. Plan
You and Brett agree what happens next. That might be food, movement, sleep, a follow-up date, a letter to your GP, a referral, or a medicine. A medicine is recommended only when it is clinically appropriate. If one is prescribed, you receive an eScript for any pharmacy in Australia.
5. Follow-up
Reviews are how safe care is done. They are booked as part of the plan: 20 minutes at $80. Bring notes on what you actually did, not what you hoped to do. If something is not workable, say so. The plan should fit a real week. If a medicine was started, the review is also where you and Brett decide whether it continues.
What telehealth cannot do
Brett cannot examine you in person. Some problems need a GP, a hospital, or another service you attend physically. He will say so. Emergencies are not booked: call 000.
There is a fuller "what to expect" note in resources, currently in draft for Brett's review.
Ready when you are.
Book an initial consult if you want a proper assessment and you are willing to do the follow-up. If you are unsure, read whether Cortex is the right fit first.
