Midlife health, followed through.
Brett Jones, Nurse Practitioner
A consult starts with listening. Brett takes a history, explains the options in plain language, and follows the plan with you. You see him at every appointment.

How a consult runs
AHPRA registration: NMW0000956388
Cortex is a Nurse Practitioner-led practice for midlife metabolic and menopause health. Perimenopause, menopause, weight and metabolic health are assessed together, in one plan, with structured follow-up. The company behind the practice is Cortex Health Solutions Pty Ltd.
Brett has more than 20 years in healthcare, including advanced clinical experience in neurology and stroke care. The name Cortex, and the brain on the homepage, come from that background. What he brings to this work is the same habit: a proper history, the right tests, and a review that actually happens.

Recent training includes:
- Managing Menopause in General Practice, Jean Hailes for Women's Health (developed with the Australasian Menopause Society), completed January 2026.
- Core Learning Path, World Obesity Federation (SCOPE-accredited CPD), completed January 2026.

- Menopause masterclass, Dr Louise Newson.
You are welcome to bring a support person to any consult. A partner, a friend, or someone who helps you remember the plan is useful, and they are part of the visit if you want them there.
The safety standard is public: assessment before a prescription, blood tests before treatment, questions about eating, follow-up, and clear reasons to reduce or stop a medicine.
If you would prefer a female clinician
Brett is a man, and he provides menopause care. Some people would rather see a woman for that, and that preference is reasonable. If it is yours, say so, including by email before you book. He will help arrange a referral. There is a short answer to the same question in the FAQs.
If you are happy to continue, the work does not change. He will ask what has been happening, what you have already tried, and what you want the next few months to look like. Gender is not the method. The history, the tests and the follow-up are.
There is a separate page on what a Nurse Practitioner is, and on how the practice is set up.

Qualifications still to confirm
These fields are blank on purpose. Nothing below has been filled in from memory or from a third-party profile.
- TODO: qualifications, written exactly as Brett wants them published.
- TODO: the “more than 20 years in healthcare, including neurology and stroke care” sentence above.
- TODO: exact titles and completion dates for Menopause Essentials, Healthy Hormones, and the Louise Newson masterclass. Both are listed without a date until then.
- TODO: Australasian Menopause Society membership, if applicable.
When those are confirmed, add them in src/data/site.ts (practitioner.qualifications, practitioner.amsMembership). Further courses go in practitioner.training. Do not invent them.
